Happy 146th birthday, William S. Porter! Join the party at Brush Square Saturday night by watching two films that celebrate the pun-loving short story writer who called himself O. Henry. Mr. Porter spent several years in Austin, where he wrote, sang, worked odd jobs and was accused of embezzlement – setting an example for many a subsequent slacker and guaranteeing that his place of residence is now treated as a virtual shrine to Keeping it Weird.

SXSW has truly built a strong reputation around the world, and every year various countries send their top-notch artists to Austin to display their nation’s talent. Scandinavia is one such area with a booming music scene. Danish band Mew and Sverige’s own Loney, Dear (Emil Svanängen) will bring their best to the festival this year. This was the SxSW 2005 Web Awards, and Austinist was there to revel in all of its geekerific splendor, and to imbibe the tall servings of Miller Lite, the event sponsor, and what we are generously calling "beer." Not really; for web-head lovefests like this, we prefer 4 cold bottles of the smooth, smooth Heineken action served with a wink by gorgeous, Hilton Hotel barmaids.

And the winners are...
