Tickets for Sunday, which features Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy and the Stooges, The Weeknd, and The Avett Brothers go on sale this morning for $90 at aclfestival.com. ACL Fest Update: 3 Day, Friday, and Saturday Sold Out - Sunday Passes On Sale Now
ACL 2012 Lineup Announced - Red Hots, Neil Young, Black Keys, & Jack White Headline
After the usual couple of months of rumormongering, C3 announced the 2012 edition of the Austin City Limits Music Festival this morning to their email list prior to this morning's three-day pass presale. One suspects the overall reaction was quite positive, as the three-day passes are already sold out, with only (more expensive) day passes remaining at present.
Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys [Show Photos and Review]
Although there was some doubt that The Black Keys garage rock songs wouldn't translate to arenas like the Frank Erwin Center, last night's performance easily put those fears aside. With both Patrick Carney's drum kit and Dan Auerbach's microphone placed right up front of the stage, the intimacy was not lost. The impressive lighting and video set up didn't detract from the fact that Auerbach is a golden guitar god and Carney drives that beat home. Playing songs spanning their entire catalog, solid good old rock rang out through the arena.
New Release Tuesday: Dan Auerbach Keeps It Hid
Auerbach spends the majority of his time as one half of the gritty Ohio-based duo the Black Keys, but now that he's built his own studio--Akron Analog--he's indulged himself in a solo record full of low-down soul, neo-psychedelia and heartfelt Nashvillian country.

Film Preview + Giveaway: Ethan Hawke's The Hottest State At The Paramount
From his beginnings in youth flicks like Explorers and Dead Poets Society to his modern-day gigs with Rick Linklater and Sidney Lumet, Austin native Ethan Hawke has done his fair share of acting. Now he's jumped behind the camera to direct an adaptation of his novel The Hottest State, a story most believe is based on Hawke's 90's fling with singer Lisa Loeb. Regardless of the truth of that rumor, the story centers around...
Music Preview: TV On The Radio @ La Zona Rosa
Since unleashing the Peter Gabriel-like "Staring At The Sun" in 2003, TV On The Radio has done just about everything an indie band can hope for. They've released two lauded albums, made the major label jump, opened for the Pixies, recorded with David Bowie, and won the Shortlist Prize. And while The Arcade Fire may be the most blogged about band of the last two years, one could argue that TVOTR may be the...
Preview: The Black Keys and Dr. Dog @ La Zona Rosa
Ohio's The Black Keys have been practicing their minimalist-blues ethos for over five years now, and have carved their own niche in indie rock. The band combines the two-man band approach of The White Stripes, riffage worthy of Jimmy Page, and blues stomps patterned after Howlin' Wolf and vintage Chess artists. The trick here is that it comes off in a way that somehow appeals to fans of both Pavement and Stevie Ray Vaughan,...
Guest ColumnIST: The Laurie Show
The following is a weekly column by guest contributor Laurie Gallardo. Hear her on KUT 90.5FM, Friday evenings, from 11pm-3am. -- The Editors Hello, music lovers! I’m all a-twitter because, once again – and happily so, I’m in a whirl over the shows going on all over the place. It’s especially groovy for yours truly because it helps me pull my humble radio gig together – in that ragtag, scatterbrained method I’m so used...
Concert Update: The Home Stretch & The New Year

December: 12/01 FunFunFun: Spoon, Peaches, Prefuse 73 + more (Waterloo Park) 12/01 Dressy...

Before I launch into this week's batch of ACL previews, a bit of bad news - Feist has unfortunately dropped out of the lineup. Early Notice: (some) ACL Night Shows Announced
One of the great things about the Austin City Limits Festival is that since so many folks are in town for the weekend, bands decide to book extra night shows. Therefore, you spend all day at the Festival then trudge out into the night and listen to music until 2AM. Then you wake up and do it all over again. (Always remembering to stay hydrated, of course. In the words of one of our...
