There’s a special event going on tonight that’s got us all geared up and giddy. Here’s a hint: Independent. Local. Alternative. Music. (Ping!) If you’ve turned on a radio in the past two months, you probably know what we’re talking about. It’s the 4th Annual 101X Independent Workforce X-Mas at Emo’s, featuring a stellar lineup of The Ting Tings, Black Kids, Eagles of Death Metal, Airborne Toxic Event and Black and White Years. The radio station is teaming up with Vans shoes to raise money for Habitat for Humanity—a perfect way to make precious dollars count whilst bearing a sour economy.

Austin, lace up your walking shoes and prepare thyself for a quadruple blast of high-caliber musical entertainment across the downtown area this Saturday. We now pass the difficulty of choice to you, gentle readers: we are merely the conduit for such information.

The Mohawk on Friday is going to be absolutely busting out with music, as one of their patently awesome two-stages-for-one-ticket deals hits the scene. Getting the big print and final time slot on the two stages are Elf Power and Belaire, but they're just small pieces of what looks to be a good long night of song. So we'll break this down all methodical-like so you won't have to worry about missing anything, and you'll finally learn the wonderfulness that is six live (and actually quite good!) bands for less than an Alexander Hamilton.
