Starting on Thursday evening, The Long Center is offering a Sneak Peak of the facility, with building tours on Thursday and Friday from 6-10p, and all day Saturday and Sunday from 10a-10p. The performance schedule is a tad overwhelming, so we're pointing out the theatre goodies we'd most like to see....

Food. Booze. Art. Local Music. What else is there in life? The good folks over at YTCC have put together the ultimate party this weekend: Party Art: The Art Party!, this Saturday at Art Amici. There's so much packed into this one little soiree that we have to resort to a bulleted list to tell you about all the goodness: Food from Chow Baby, wine from Treana Winery, and cheese from Central Market. Performances......

May your withdrawals subside now.... We did indeed miss a day of NPS countdown, so today's tips are for tonight and tomorrow night. Choosing from tonight's offerings is tough, but for our top pick we've got to go with the man who introduced us to slam, Big Poppa E. He'll be hosting a Haiku Battle at 8pm tonight on the rooftop at Zen's south location. FREE. (Sheesh, there sure are plenty of First Thursday......

Adding to the flood of entertainment options available this Saturday, some of Austin's most popular slam poets will be facing off to figure out who gets to represent our fair city at the National Poetry Slam this summer. On the bill for the event are Tony Jackson, Krissi Reeves, Big Poppa E, Zell Miller III, Erin Livingston, Christopher Lee, Genevieve Van Cleve, Da'Shade Moonbeam, Christopher Michael, Shannon Leigh, Andy Buck, and Ohio Jake --......

Catchy title, eh? Apparently lots of other netizens think so too, because local poet Big Poppa E's auto-biographical short of that very subject has been propagating its way around the internet for the last week or so. It's a hysterical video that showcases E's inaugural -- and HR-action provoking -- performance of one of our favourites, Oh! Canadian FedEx Lady! As an added bonus, it includes footage from an Apple Employee Talent Contest. Yeah,......

We are soaked, soaked we tell you, in Frontera. This week, we've attended Best of Fest Bill A (to be repeated tomorrow night, and highly recommended), and the first Wild Card bill -- which won't be repeated, but we definitely suggest you take a stab at the second Wild Card bill, 2pm Saturday. It happens to be the only remaining Frontera show that's not sold out. Yikes! (A tip: If you want to try......

Outside of it being the second-to-last week of Frontera Fest(!), things have taken a turn for the traditional here in the A-burg. Now’s your chance to get out and see theatre that actually looks and sounds like real life – instead of some weird, alternate reality where people scream a lot and pee on stage. (Note to reader: if you’re like us, and enjoy weird peeing plays -- never fear -- next weekend brings......

As some things wind down, others are winding up in Frontera land. The Long Fringe and Bring Your Own Venue are over. Only one week of regular shows remains for the Short Fringe, with the fabulous Best of Fest thereafter. The very intriguing Mi Casa Es Su Teatro is this coming Saturday. Frontera is a little more than halfway through, with some of the best nights yet to come. We were sad to miss......
