A pantheon of famous horror movie actors and directors, including Austin's Robert Rodriguez, will be appearing/speaking/signing autographs (IN BLOOD - just kidding) at the convention locale, the Renaissance Austin Hotel....

Details are still sketchy, but you can already buy tickets for the Austin edition of Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors, happening January 18th-20th at the Renaissance Austin Hotel. As of right now, the only confirmed guests are Tom Savini, Jared Padalecki and Harry Knowles, but organizers have wrangled some cool guests for previous, non-Austin events, so we're hoping to see a few high-profile additions in the coming months. Hilariously, the folks on the Texas Frightmare Weekend......

Mercury Design Studio is raffling off eight I'm Not A Plastic Bag canvas totes, designed by Anya Hindmarch to encourage recycling. These limited bags are already sold out in major cities. The Statesman is reporting that the Austin Fire Department are responding to a three-alarm restaurant fire at Stephen F. Austin Hotel on Congress Avenue. From The Blotter: About 30 units from the Austin Fire Department are on the scene of a three-alarm restaurant fire inside the Inter-Continental Stephen F. Austin Hotel downtown.
