Founded in 1986, The Austin Children’s Choir presently boasts over one hundred members from 45 different schools. Comprised of four singing groups based on the students’ skill and age, the choir performs unique concerts throughout the year while also making special appearances as needed. Following the huge outpouring of positive response from their winter wonderland experience of a year ago, Whole Foods is bringing back their ice rink this holiday season. We told you about the Rockefeller Center-esque set-up last year, and this year it will be more of the same. Ten dollars gets you on the ice for a 45-minute session between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. The rink will be open from November 22nd through January 5th. In addition to ice skating, the area will also feature holiday music and a variety of cold-weather concessions like coffee and hot chocolate.

In a few years, Second Street may look a lot more like Times Square, with the new glass-clad TRL ACL studios looking out over the proletariat. Stratus Properties is planning to develop Block 21 (just north of City Hall). The building will include the new home for KLRU's "Austin City Limits," which will function as a live venue between tapings.

Around 7 a.m. this morning, a 12-year-old boy was hit by a truck as he tried to cross North I-35 near the 8900 block, apparently in an attempt to take a shortcut across the freeway to reach a bus stop. He has been taken to Austin Children's Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. The child's name has not been released, and charges will likely not be filed against the driver. 2nd Street District is throwing a collective block party this week to celebrate their first anniversary.
