We knew that local tennis star Andy Roddick kept himself in good shape, but we were still taken aback when we first came across this cover photo on the latest issue of Men's Fitness: the Austin Java fan and budding philanthropist looks like he's fixin' to hulk out of his burnt orange tee. Said bulging biceps turned out to be yet another case of crafty airbrush work, as ABC News points out in their Doctored...

It might be December 26 for you, but that's what you get for not checking your Favorite Local Blog on Christmas Eve. Austinist is...

The Foundation’s goal is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all...
Part-time Austin resident Andy Roddick is out early at the French Open. Again. The native Nebraskan had to withdraw from his match with the unseeded Alberto Martin after one game in the third set due to a jacked-up ankle. (6-4. 7-5. 1-0) This marks the third time in five years that Roddick has not made it out of the first round at Roland Garros.
President Bush recently added three high-profile Austinites to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, according to the Austin Business Journal: Paul Carrozza, founder of Run-Tex Susan Dell, uber-philanthropist and ironman (ironwoman?) athlete Andy Roddick, Austin Java-loitering tennis champ The members of the council will serve a two-year term, during which they're expected to advise the president on all matters concerning "physical fitness, physical activity and sports activities." Austin Java regular and local starlet (though we've yet to spot him in town) Andy Roddick has reportedly split from his current coach, former Olympic team assistant coach Dean Goldfine, switching over to big brother Johnny. What would otherwise be a normal business maneuver is somewhat clouded by the fact this makes it the fourth coach that Andy's had in the last three years.

Part-time Austin resident Andy Roddick is America’s Lone Star remaining at Wimbledon. Roddick, the #2 seed, defeated #15 Guillermo Coria in straight sets (6-3, 7-6, 6-4), conserving his energy for a quarterfinal match with grass court specialist Sebastien Grosjean, a two-time semi-finalist. Roddick is on course to face his nemesis, Switzerland’s Roger Federer, in Sunday’s finals. Federer, the top-ranked player in the world, has owned Roddick over the past few years, beating him in last year's finals and in the semifinals two years ago.
Austin resident, and overall jock heartthrob, Andy Roddick exited the French Open right on cue today. For the fifth time in as many years, Roddick failed to make it to the second week at Roland Garros.
While we're on the subject of gay marriage and pop idols this week, international diva Elton "That's Sir to You" John was in town yesterday showing his support for Andy Roddick's Foundation to harvest black market organs save the children. This came only a day after announcing plans to wed longtime partner David Furnish, which we're guessing won't take place anywhere near here.
