From 7-8:30pm tonight, Austinist live-blogged from the CNN/Univision debate hall. Check it out after the jump, and while you're at it, check out our friends at The Economist, who also live-blogged from here.

Hi folks, Thanks for helping us make Local Music is Sexy IV such a success! We hope you guys had as much fun at the free show as we did putting it together. For those of you who weren't able to snag an Austinist tote bag but wanted one, we're gonna make things right: fill out the contest form below, and we'll randomly select twenty people to receive their very own, plus assorted goodies. Our first experience with Independence Brewing Company came just a few short years ago when browsing the beer aisle at a nearby Austin grocer. Shuffling past the quick favorites (Lone Star) and growing tired of the old stand-by's (Shiner) we came upon the logo of a shaggy-haired kid jumping, cannonball-style, into a pool not unlike our own Barton Springs. With curious mind and ever-growing soberness, we delved further to discover what has quickly become...

To those of you who followed the false Daniel Johnston rumors earlier this afternoon, and especially to those to wrote in to us or left comments: The rumors stemmed from a confusing timestamp glitch in a past news article, which generated a considerable amount of buzz on Facebook, which, in turn, caused a reader to write in to us about it. We confirmed the situation with City Hall, but only later realized that they had...

Believe it or not, there's a bunch of activities going on around town this week other than SXSW. This week's IST List won't include our usual bevy of music and film events; for those, we recommend that you check out our Interactive Guide to SXSW Parties and the Other Side Guide, respectively. We'd also like to welcome LAist editor Tony Pierce and Gothamist arts editor Jen Carlson, both of whom will be joining us...

Almost two years ago I joined a motley crew of a couple dozen folks looking to enhance the entertainment landscape of Austin and help explode Austinist onto the scene via the wonders of the internets. Since that time, many of the names and faces have changed, but the desire to provide fun, entertaining and informative content to Austinites (and former Austinites) has remained the same. Therefore, it is with a mixture of sadness and excitement...

15. Mogwai - Mr. Beast (Matador) As ever, Mogwai manage to blend unadulterated post-rock weight to their shoegazer tendencies with tracks like "Glasgow Mega Snake" and "Folk Death 95," showcasing their ability to create anthems with no words. This is where Mr. Beast really shines, in between blistering chord progressions and gradual swings into corybantic climaxes. In some ways a throwback to earlier (and heavier) Mogwai material, Mr. Beast isn't merely a rock album....

Ed Note: Corrections below. Whether to make way for the latest loft development or for personal reasons, two of Austin's more interesting art galleries will bid adieu this weekend. They're hosting an "End of the World" Party that...

Earlier this week, a lady barreling down Westlake Drive in her Acura totally misjudged a curve near the 1800 block.

Accompanying the release of Bryan Singer's quarter-billion-dollar summer epic Superman Returns is a compilation album put out by Rhino Records entitled, aptly enough, Sound of Superman. More of a themed record than a soundtrack (also available), the disc piles together fourteen tracks of Man of Steel-related rock, mostly performed by today's batch of MTV bands like The Academy Is ..., The Sun, Motion City Soundtrack, American Hi-Fi, and The Spill Canvas. Covers make up nearly...

Danielson (formerly the Danielson Famile) is an indie pop/Christian gospel troupe band of brothers and sisters from suburban New Jersey. Formed as a result of elder Smith and frontman Daniel's senior thesis at Rutgers, entitled A Prayer for Every Hour, the band released a steady stream of albums starting the late 90s. Back in 2001 they signed to Secretly Canadian -- home to beloved indie acts like Antony and the Johnsons, Jens Lekman, Damien Jurado, and Magnolia Electric Co -- on which they've recently come out with the amazing Ships.

KVUE reports that the fellow pictured on the right exposed his manly bits to the bargain couture shoppers at Neiman Marcus Last Call back on June 22nd, according to the Austin Police Department:

In the north part of Austin's so-called Urban Core lies the intersection of Metric Boulevard, US-183, and MoPac. Now known collectively as the North Burnet/Gateway Planning Area, the roughly 2,300-acre section of land has grown considerably in the past few decades, from its origins as an industrial district and home of the UT Balcones Research Center (now J.J. Pickle Research Campus), built on a WWII-era magnesium plant, to the construction of various collosal highways...

We recently got our hands on the brand new AMCOR PLM 14000BTU, the latest in portable air conditioning technology from the "indoor air treatment" specialists. AMCOR manufactures several lines of cooling and purification systems for the home and office, and have been around for over half a century. As far as air conditioner units go, the PLM is pretty darn sexy; a silver-hued plastic plate fronts the sleek, wedge-shaped device. Towards the top of the unit's front face are the control buttons and console display; the former is arranged in a circular fashion around the glowing blue LCD, which remains on even when the device isn't operating unless you manually switch it off. Our first impression upon taking the unit out of the box was that it resembled Rosie, the robot maid from The Jetsons, but minus head or limbs or skirt.

As though the personal trainers at Pure Austin weren't awesome enough already -- and by "awesome" we mean "intimidating" -- one of them is attempting to set a new world record next Monday as a fundraiser for some less-than-fortunate local kids. On July 10th, fitness specialist and triathlete Shawn Bostad will embark on a twelve hour run on a treadmill and attempt to beat Martin Tighe's record distance of 85.83 miles. That's roughly 7.15 miles...
