w7cook, pavement is just pavement. If it is only connected to one street, it is a driveway. Connected to two streets, it is a street. Connected to a grid of streets, can extend the grid. Driveways...
The development won't have "streets" - that was the point of my post. By failing to extend the street grid, we are failing to integrate this new development into the urban fabric of the neighborhood....
Thanks, Mike. ...
Also, what do you mean "I don't agree with the decision"? What do you think should have been done?...
w7cook, thank you for your comment. My understanding from the city council meeting transcript is that there was an agreement between the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association and the developer that the ...
Seth, I think the city should do what it can to stop people from defacing other people's property (which is what I meant by "I understand tagging being against the law"). Other than expressing my per...
Personally, I don't think the graffiti "diminishes the beauty of the city." Some graffiti is real art, most of it is crap, but I don't think any of it is worse than the blank wall that was there befo...

I've heard people talk about golf ball sized hail, but this is the first I've seen....
I agree with most of the comments above (including the comment that raising the gas tax is probably a better plan in general). However, if the growth projections for Austin are anywhere near accurate...
What's so great about the sun? Why does it have to be so hot? I'd like it a lot more if it would chill out a bit....
I make mistakes reasonably often in my posts and sometimes people leave comments with corrections. I generally fix the mistake, send the person an email thanking them for the correction and then dele...
Benj, just so you don't feel censored, one comment was: Austinist's Headlines "AMOUNG" The Worst Online and yours was Who's Travis Amoung? Is he Laotian, or Hmong? And why does he get to be a cou...
They were comments pointing out a typo - I appreciate the help, but they don't make any sense anymore after I fixed the typo. Relax....
