Food + Wine: The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas Presents Cowboys + Gauchos on March 4th

CG_Poster_Web_Version.jpg After a successful debut last year, The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas is back with their second annual Cowboys + Gauchos showdown at noon on Sunday, March 4th at the Salt Lick Pavilion. Texas barbecue over an open fire will battle some South American counterparts, with fare provided by The Salt Lick, Judge's Hill Restaurant & Bar, Café Josie, Zocalo Café, Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, Live Oak Barbecue, Wild Bubba's, and Mmmpanadas.

The event does offer more than just delicious meaty offerings. Wash down the barbecue with paired wines from Alamosa Wine Cellars, Becker Vineyards, Duchman Family Winery, Fall Creek Vineyards, Casa Lapostolle, Llano Estacado, McPherson Cellars, Spicewood Vineyards, Terrazas de los Andes and a local beer from Thirsty Planet Brewery. To satisfy your sweet tooth, Delysia Chocolatier will provide dessert.

Attendees will face the challenge of seeing how local favorites from Becker Vineyards and Duchman Family Winery face off against their Argentinian wine counterparts. They'll also judge how casual fare from Mmmpanadas or Wild Bubba's with their infamous uses of wild game, will compare to the fine dining steaks of Judge's Hill and the Caribbean flavors of Cafe Josie. It should make for a a tasty day of cross-cultural flavors.

The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas is a nonprofit membership organization committed to the excellence of food and wine. In addition to charitable projects, the Foundation offers unique classes, exclusive tastings and special events to members for their education and enjoyment.

Along with authentic Texas and South American food and wine, there will be live entertainment and family friendly activities for cowboys and gauchos of all ages. Tickets are $40 for Foundation members and $50 for the general public. Children 12 and under are free, while those aged 13 - 20 are $10.
