Rick Perry: The Governor Who Isn't There

Since abandoning his presidential campaign, Rick Perry seems to have abandoned his duties as Governor as well.

After he spent 6 months away from his office campaigning against a socialist president, a treacherous Fed chairman, and uh... ummm... shoot, it escapes me, his own calendar shows he's only been to his office three times and spent less than three hours each time there in the sixteen days following the end to his campaign.

In all that time since what must have been the most humbling day of his life (except of course for this one), his calendar shows no state events or meetings. He may be growing a beard, who knows?

Of course, Perry's aides downplay the fact that our governor is nowhere to be seen by saying that he works from wherever he is. So when you see him on the news tomorrow night, stumping for Newt Gingrich in the post-Arizona-debate spin room, just rest assured he's working for you, the Texan taxpayer paying his yearly $133,000 salary.

  • Paying him to do nothing. Sounds a lot like the GOP definition of unemployment benefits.

  • Brent Walker

Can't we get a wall built (or two) before he gets back to prevent him from returning for good?

  • Is this really surprising? I mean we are talking about Rick uh... ummm... shoot, it escapes me, Perry here.

  • No bargain for Texans, that's for sure.
