New Release Alert: The Daily Brothers - The Dream Is Dead

Who: Austin’s own version of the Kinks, right down to the familial connections. The Daily Brothers feature bros Chris and Jeff, who write, record, and produce their own music from the comfort of the bedroom, with bro Matt on drums and non-bro Keegan (wife of Jeff) on backing vocals and “visual art/design.”

What: The group released The Dream Is Dead last week, their second official full-length after a string of EPs and mixtapes. As befitting of musical brothers, the band is incredibly prolific, offering up quick slabs of pop rock on their website seemingly every month. The Dream Is Dead ups the fidelity considerably, adding lush instrumentation to the simple songs.

More: The album comes via Teflon Beast Records, a cassette label started by the Daily Brothers themselves. There’s no genre boundaries for the label, which asks “from folk to noise to pop, what’s in your jambox?” You can grab The Dream Is Dead on cassette or digitally through Teflon Beast's Bandcamp.
