Roller Disco for a Cause on Thursday
Thursday, February 9
Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex (1156 Hargrave Street)
$5, 7:30pm-11pm, BYOB

If you've been secretly hiding a pair of old school roller skates under your bed, now's the time to whip 'em out and ride. This Thursday, UNITE!, Team Prohomo, Mouthfeel, Sir/Ma'am, and Alien She will bring together a rainbow assortment of queers for Roller Disco, a skate party and volunteer drive at the Millenium Youth Entertainment Complex.
Team Prohomo will host special games so you can show off all your secret skate tricks while Mouthfeel and DJ Cap'n Tits supply the disco and boogie. If you don't have any skate moves, you can still show off your tricks (ahem) in the lover's lounge hosted by Girlfriend. The evening will be rounded out with a disco ballad by the enigmatic Miss Coral Rose and the ubiquitous JohnMark Robbins.
With all the roller disco madness, you mustn't forget the purpose of the evening: to put members of the LGBTQIA community into volunteer positions. Partygoers are encouraged to sign up for one day of volunteer work. Habitat for Humanity will be signing up volunteers for the Pride Build and the Transgender Education Network of Texas and ALLGO will also have tables set up. Organizations that are interested in participating should contact the folks in charge.
Aside from the future feeling of awesomeness, those who sign up will also be rewarded with a special after party at Cheer Up Charlie's featuring DJ Hot Britches and surprise guests. But no worries, those who decide volunteerism and giving back to their community are just not real cool are still invited.
Entry for this BYOB event is $5 including skate rental. Don't forget to stretch.
