White Denim Provide Soundtrack For Women Slipping Out of Their Tops Just So

Like the whole "I read it for the articles" self-justification surrounding Playboy in its early days, The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, first debuting in 1964, had its presence explained on the kitchen table by the fact that "It only comes out once a year, honey, relax" and plus "the photography is really good...look at how beautiful these beaches are!" and it was an excellent showcase for swimwear, albeit swimwear that is always peeling off and being clutched to the bosom of Tyra Banks or another model with bedroom eyes, appendages stuck in sexy contortions out in the Caribbean.

Of course with the internet making it easier for the average red-blooded American male or lesbian to find masturbatory fodder classy exhibitions of beautiful women with just a few one-handed clicks, SI has, like so many other publications, decided to up the ante. This is where it gets local: White Denim, and seventeen other bands, are going to be a part of the "2012 Swimsuit Issue Launch," by way of "a 4-page feature in the acclaimed publication, a section with their music on the Sports Illustrated site, an exclusive DJ A-Trak music video filmed on location during a shoot with an SI Swimsuit model and more."

Other artists contributing to the issue include Black Lips, Toro Y Moi, Delta Spirit, Elan Atias & White Elephant, The newno2, J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Bosco Delrey, Little Hurricane, Maluca, Nick Waterhouse, Vonnegutt, Selebrities, Hanni El Khatib, Kito & Reija Lee, New Look, and Rhye.

And there's more. "This year the magazine will also debut the 2-day Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Beauties & Beats Music Festival Presented By Lexus at The Cosmopolitan on February 15 & 16, showcasing 10 of the featured artists, White Denim included. Swimsuit models will be stage-side at all performances, which are open to all music and model fans 21 and up."

As the picture above attests, the boys in White Denim aren't unprepared for a little bit of sexy skin-showing themselves, and really, scooping up (potentially) seventy-million fans of your own brand of brilliant rock fusion while cavorting in a Vegas hotel with swimsuit models? It's pretty good work if you can get it. Make us proud, boys.
