Will The Astros Change Their Name, Or Is Owner Jim Crane Trolling?

With the Houston Astros moving from the National League to the American League, owner Jim Crane is toying with a name change...or is he? The Dallas Morning News reports that Crane, regarding a potential name update for his team, said: "We're going to study the information both from the fans and from all sorts of marketing people,” but also volunteered that, “I'm not saying we're going to change. We haven't made the decision yet whether we're going to change.”

The tentativeness of the proposal is underscored by the fact that management "haven't hired a marketing firm yet, but they are considering doing that soon," meaning that we're just in the spitball phase of this anyway, so why even leak it to the press? Maybe because it's a good way to ensure talk about the team's league move, their new "fan friendly initiatives," and hey - maybe it is time for a name change.

The Astros haven't played at the Astrodome since 2000, and now that all space work will soon be the realm of Indian science etc. instead of Houston science, why not rebrand?
