Texas Rollergirls Announce Announcer/Official Tryouts
Every Texas Rollergirls game is narrated by one or more announcers who navigate flying participants and the sticky roller rink floor to give viewers a play-by-play. Likewise, a team of officials make sure that the rules are followed, fouls called, and everyone is kept safe. Right now, the Texas Rollergirls have spots open for both announcers and officials.
A few answers to questions you may have: what we're talking about here is the flat track style of rollerderby, not the banked track variation practiced by the Lone Star Rollergirls. You can learn about the difference here. Secondly, you may feel intimidated if you have little to no experience with the sport. Don't worry - amateurs are welcome.
The announcer tryouts are from 7-9pm on January 16th at the iconic Scholz Garten. Right off the bat (or elbow to the chest), know that announcers will be required to attend one practice a week for six weeks, and then must be present at all of the Texas Rollergirls’ home games. For more info, email Sadie.
Tryouts for officials take place at 3pm on January 7th at the Key Bar. If you have questions about that, contact Chasing Amy.
