Holy Grail! It's God of Blades!

If you've yet to see the painstakingly gorgeous backgrounds of Austin's newest game developer's God of Blades, then you owe yourself a gander. If you'd like to see characters running in front of these epic canvasses sooner than later, then why don't you go and donate to the worthy cause? There are free copies of the game, art prints, and eventually an art book up for grabs!

White Whale Games
is gearing up for the arduous task of creating a "2.5D sidescrolling action RPG that vividly depicts an epic retro-fantasy, sword and sorcery saga." It doesn't hurt that they have really great influences in games (Streets of Rage and River City Ransom), artistic direction (Japanese narrative scrolls, and pulp science fiction covers). Oh, and they might have based the design of their nameless king off David Bowie circa Aladdin Sane.

White Whale formed in 2011 and announced God of Blades in October. The three person crew has been working thus far on personal resources alone, and the quality they have clearly put into the work has started to take it's toll. Hopefully this Kickstarter will help them to be compensated on a level that sees the game through to its rightful place on the iPhone and iPad of every bloodthirsty person waiting in line at the DMV. We look forward to keeping you posted on their progress.
