Although The Jayhawks have weathered through many lineup iterations, key members reunited recently to bring back their folk rock/'90s alt-country music to the world. The band is now comprised of Mark Olson, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Karen Grotberg, and Tim O'Reagan, all of whom played important roles throughout the years since the inception of The Jayhawks in 1985. Since the September release of the album Mockingbird Time, the group has toured the country and will continue through the spring supporting the latest record.

After their 1992 major label debut on Def American Hollywood Town Hall, The Jayhawks gained popularity outside of their native Twin Cities music scene with their unique blend of Americana and rock, influencing groups such as Wilco and Son Volt. Towards the end of their original implementation they performed on the PBS show Austin City Limits in 2004, and then officially broke up.

During the hiatus, main members Olson and Louris kept in touch and even recorded an acoustic album together. In 2009 the entire band reunited, and released an anthology album, followed by remastered versions of several original albums. New and old fans alike appreciate the timeless quality of The Jayhawks musical style, and a show at The Paramount Theater tonight is the perfect place to see the group back in action.

Opening the evening is Jolie Holland, a Houston native who combines folk, country, jazz and blues. As a labelmate of Tom Waits on ANTI-, Holland has completed four albums and garnered accolades from Waits to Sage Francis.
