Special Benefit Screening Tonight: Purple Rain [Film Preview]

If you want to support Austin's African American community, and if you would like your support to be accompanied by one of the best film soundtracks ever created, check out the Austin Alpha Foundation's presentation of Purple Rain tonight at the Alamo South Lamar.

Everyone knows the power-ballad title track, but don't forget that the Academy Award and Grammy Winning score also features classics like Let's Go Crazy, Darling Nikki, and When Doves Cry. In a decade of ridiculously over-the-top movies (yeah 80s, we're looking at you), Prince's rags-to-riches tale still stands out in all its big-haired glory.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Austin Alpha Foundation, who does everything from providing technology and internet training to awarding college scholarships within the local African American community.
