Those of us feeling bereft and searching for literary meaning after the closing of the Texas Book Festival won't have to wait long at all to get our next book fix. The 28th Annual Austin Jewish Book Fair opens on today, less than two weeks after the conclusion of this year's Festival.

The Fair kicks off Thursday with a Book Lovers Luncheon featuring award-winning writer Melissa Fay Greene, whose latest book, No Biking in the House Without a Helmet , details life with her nine children, both biological and adopted. Events continue throughout the week, with readings and discussions on topics varying from the intersection between Hollywood and spies (Joe Gelman's Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Holywood Tycoon- Arnon Milchan) to Google (Steven Levy's In the Plex: How Google Thinks, Works and Shapes Our Lives).

Most programs will be held at the Jewish Community Center in Northwest Austin, where there will also be an onsite bookstore set up for the duration of the book fair. Organizers encourage attendees to bring items for the mitzvah project to benefit Children of All Nations. Kids' clothes, school supplies, toothbrushes and toothpaste, twin sheets and plastic dishware are all needed.
