What could be better than a leisurely dinner of local food and wine under the twinkling stars? Green Gate Farms, a certified organic family farm in east Austin, is hosting a Slow Farm Feast Saturday, November 19 from 6-9pm. Barbara Frisbie, Sustainable Caterer of El Locavore, will present Green Gate Farms' heritage-bred and pasture-raised meats and certified organic produce while desserts will be provided by Arte de Chocolates. Tickets for this mouthwatering meal are $125 per person, or $100 for a vegetarian option.

Slow Food Feast is sponsored by Slow Food Austin, an organization that aims to inspire respect for where food comes from and stimulate true delight in eating. All proceeds will benefit the Austin Discovery School, an innovative public charter school emphasizing social responsibility, good health, and the value of local food. "This is a delicious opportunity to vote with your fork," says farmer Skip Connett, cofounder of Green Gate Farms and New Farm Institute.

Green Gate Farms was established by Skip Connett and Erin Flynn in a blighted neighborhood in east Austin in 2006. They restored a historical farm to create a community resource for neighbors of all incomes that feeds mind, body and soul.

Come discover the farm, enjoy the company of neighbors, and feast slowly. To purchase tickets and learn more about the event, visit their website.
