Passport to the Underworld w/Pure X and Sleep Over [Show Preview]

Arguably one of the biggest acts to emerge from Austin's increasingly crowded garage/lo-fi scene, Pure X have developed a sound that is both familiar and instantly recognizable as their own. Their slow rock jams have gained them acclaim in many different publications, and they have even been profiled as representing the direction of Austin music in a controversial article in The Fader.

After the band first gained attention a yeah and a half ago as Pure Ecstasy, they were forced to change their name when another group of the same name enforced their copyright on the moniker. It was a full year between their last 7''s and their debut LP, Pleasure, but the band took that time to refine and focus their sound into an album that is a perfect guitar driven escape. We loved Pleasure upon it's release earlier this year. Although the show is being touted as "Passport to the Underworld," you can expect more chill vibes than gory atmospherics at the Scoot Inn. Also playing are rising Austin group Sleep Over, Silent Diane, Survive, and Children of the Grave.
