Still looking for something to do on the Saturday of this Halloween weekend? Bassnectar is playing a heart-stopping breakbeat dubstep show at the Austin Music Hall just for you. It is guaranteed to be a spectacle as Bassnectar usually tries to merge music, art, media with DJs, rappers and artists of all kinds on stage.

Bassnectar was originally conceived as a solo project by Californian Lorin Ashton and remains mostly his project on recordings. Not surprisingly, Ashton has thoroughly embraced the phenomenon of Burning Man, which is all about combining art, music, and more in a free-form environment. Ashton also remixes songs and in many instances makes a good song great - one example is Ellie Goulding's "Lights" (play it loud through good speakers and just wait for that bass to drop!). Bassnectar's latest release, Divergent Spectrum, came out in August and serves as the basis for this fall tour.

Opening for Bassnectar are Bonobo, Ana Sia, and SuperDre. The latter two are female DJs who have been making their mark in the electronic world. Ana Sia, a fellow California native, spins glitchy dubstep, while SuperDre focuses more on a minimal techno funk sound through actual analog turntables. Bonobo is the stage name of the Brit musician Simon Green, and his DJ sets are heavily influenced by jazz and percussion. It's guaranteed to be a night of dancing with hundreds of your closest dubstep friends in costumes!
