Oscar Casares Reads Tonight at St. Ed's

Come see Austin-based novelist and short story writer Oscar Casares give a reading tonight at 7:30 p.m. in The Maloney Room at St. Edward's University as part of the Visiting Writers Series. A Brownsville native and Iowa Writers’ Workshop graduate, Casares now directs the new MFA in English at the University of Texas.

In addition to publishing essays in Texas Monthly and The New York Times, Casares is author of the story collection Brownsville and the novel Amigoland, two books that have earned critical recognition both nationally and at home; Brownsville was chosen as a Notable Book of 2004 by the American Library Association and Amigoland was a selection for the 2010 Mayor’s Book Club in Austin.

It’s fair to say that Casares is making a name for himself as a Texas writer, so don't miss this opportunity to hear him read on his home turf.
