Still waiting for the golden ticket to ACL? Do yourself a favor and consider the plethora of free, spin-off musical offerings, including this "independent alternative" showcase tonight at Cheer Up Charlies featuring some of Austin's finest up-and-coming acts Follow That Bird, Rickey Jean Francois, Kay Leotard, Boy Friend, Agent Ribbons, The Great Aware, AND a "special guest" performance inside at midnight.

While hoards of festival goers stake their claim at Zilker Park, skip the crowds and cruise over to this casual East Sixth venue, which promises a laid back environment with an array of acts including local three-piece buzz band Follow That Bird (Lauren Green, TIffanie Lanmon, and Paul Brinkley) who've been making waves around town with their art-rock-meets-garage-punk stylings.

On the other side of the spectrum, Agent Ribbons spins softer, fem-folk songs. Since forming in Sacramento in 2007, these ladies have toured with well-known acts like Camera Obscura, Cake, and Girl in a Coma. Lucky for us, they now call Austin home.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit Equality Texas.
