Evernote to Open Austin Studio

The company with the irrepressible tag-line and the adorable logo announced a new studio in Austin this week. We are told the new location will not act as a branch of their Mountain View headquarters, but as an autonomous development team tasked with working on Evernote's soon-to-be expanding family of programs (like the almost unbearably cute and addicting Evernote Peek.).

Many of the company's developers have lived and worked here earlier in their careers, so after raising a staggering 50 million for acquisitions and buying sketch app Skitch a couple weeks ago, this new location is a sign that everything's going to plan for the note-taking engine.

Evernote has certainly earned this jump to the next level of development. The amount of focus, polish and innovation given to their program over the past years has been remarkable (if you haven't at least tried the app, you should). Their any-platform, any-device approach is part of their huge success as a business that doesn't charge for their trademark product (the businesspeak for which is 'freemium'). Their 11 million users say a lot about the quality and there couldn't be a clearer sign than an additional million users in a single month, that it's time for them to spread their ears and fly.

This news means, of course, that they are hiring. They plan on starting with only a dozen or so employees at first, but are looking to have a team of hundreds in the next few years. Wanna get your foot in the door, or just meet your new business neighbors? Evernote will be celebrating by having an elbow-rubbing get together at the W bar on August 31 from 7-10 pm. Money's on there being swag.
