Tonight, Mohawk will host an Austin band-sandwich around visiting Vancouver band World Club. All three groups delve into the dreamy depths of experimental pop, each with their own interesting take on the sound.

YellowFever are a local duo who have been playing together since 2006, creating music that has caught the ears of the likes of the Vivian Girls, who put out one of their releases (which Pitchfork rated favorably, if you're into that sort of thing). At the same time YellowFever has managed to keep the whole endeavor low-key; they hand make band t-shirts, bring food with them on tour in a cooler, and definitely have a sense of humor about the whole thing (check out the info section on their Facebook page). Now on M'Lady Records, you can hear their latest releases on the YellowFever bandcamp page, and you can read our interview with the band from around this time last year.

World Club, on the other hand, are shrouded in mystery. With a mere 78 followers on their Facebook page, the Canadian group has garnered kudos from a handful of smaller reviewers, but don't have any detailed information available. What they do have though is their freshly released LP, Live-able Via-bility, available for free download. The LP mixes an unconventional blend of experimental noise pop, layered by dissonant guitar riffs, male and female vocals both spoken and sung, ringing keyboards, and light percussion. Highly recommended for listening at work or relaxing at home, it will be interesting to follow this group as they tour the US to see what kind of support they can drum up.

Capping off the evening is the other local group, Boy Friend (not to be confused with the Korean boy band of the same name). Again the duo, comprised of Christa Palazzolo and Sarah Brown (both former members of SleepāˆžOver) continues in the dreamy atmospheric sound vein. With vocals drowned in reverb, floating amongst a driving beat and synth tones, the group draws comparisons to Beach House. This strong lineup will surely result in a night of gorgeous music emanating from Mohawk's indoor stage.
