Lights. Camera. Help. 2011 Film Festival
It’s been a little while since our last film fest and it’ll be a few more weeks before the big ones begin, so the Lights Camera Help Film Festival is perfectly timed. This small but essential event runs today through Saturday, and it celebrates nonprofit and cause-driven films.
This year’s program features the work of filmmakers from around the world and focuses on several environmental and social causes. If you love a good local connection, you’ll be happy to know that six Austin organizations are spotlighted, including Inside Books Project, The Lance Armstrong Foundation and The Cipher - Austin’s Hip Hop Project. Also on the schedule are a PSA by Judd Apatow and a short film by Emmy-winning director Jeff Dupre.
Awards will be given in three categories (Feature Film, Short Film and PSA), and the proceeds from ticket sales and online donations will be directed to the causes of the winners. Single day ($13) and three day ($28) passes are available, and both grant access to the after party at Cuatro’s on Saturday.
Check out the full schedule, get your tickets, and read more about the causes and creative forces behind this good-hearted film festival.
