Fantastic Fest 2011 Announces First Wave of Films
Fantastic Fest, which will take place Sept. 22-29, has made its first programming announcement. The 20 films that have been revealed come from around the world and include digital restorations, US premieres, and plenty of the bizarre fun this festival is celebrated for.
Announced so far: Comin' At Ya! 3D (digital restoration, Ferdinando Baldi), Body Temperature (Takaomi Ogata), Snowtown (Justin Kurzel), Yakuza Weapon (Tak Sakaguchi) and more.
Fantastic Fest is the largest genre festival in the United States and grows bigger, weirder and buzzier as time goes on. Tim League (creative director of the festival and founder/CEO of the Alamo Drafthouse) calls it the highlight of his year, and this seventh installment is already on track to meet the sky-high expectations film lovers have for this week of horror, sci-fi and action overload.
More films will be announced in mid-August, and details about special screenings, gala events, guests and parties will be trickling out as well. Get your Fantastic Fest tickets here, and stay tuned for more info.
