Hey, kids! Are you already bored of the heat and the not-reading of summer? Then beat the heat with the Coolest Book Club in the World! This summer, the O. Henry Museum is teaming up with the Encyclopedia Show’s hosts, who happen to be trained and experienced teachers, to put together a four-part Language Arts workshop/book club that will have the outdoor kids jealous!

At the CBCITW, young adults (like, kids 5th - 8th grades) will read three books from a list of six young adult classics: The Pigman, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hatchet, Hoot, Stargirl and Small Steps. Once you’ve read these kick-booty books, then you’ll do fun-ducational activities about them to hone persuasive speaking, debating and acting skills. It’s like a festival of words but COOLER and hotter at the SAME TIME! You will also learn what a paradox is at this book club because you will have lived through one!!! And you'll learn boring things like critical thinking and the art of discussing literature, which you don’t care about but your parents will like.
