Slacker 2011: Behind the Scenes

You’ve probably heard about the Slacker 2011 project, which consists of a couple dozen filmmakers re-shooting every scene from Richard Linklater’s breakthrough film in honor of its 20th anniversary.

These directors will be bringing their own perspectives to the material, of course, and a few days ago we mentioned that a flash mob had been summoned to help capture the loopy energy of the film’s final scene. If you couldn’t make it to the shoot and are curious about how it all went down, here’s a behind-the-scenes peek courtesy of YNN News.

In addition to celebrating a classic and highlighting the changes Austin has undergone, this project will also raise money for the 2011 Texas Filmmakers Fund. Check out the official Slacker 2011 site if you’re interested in contributing and/or attending the premiere in August, and find out more about the filmmakers involved. (Hat tip to the appropriately-titled Slackerwood!)
