Food: Cupcake Smackdown 3.0 This Saturday At Hops And Grain Brewery
Admission to the event is free, but bring some cash for delicious BBQ from Chilantro and Sugar Shack and sweet treats from Austin Cake Ball, The Cupcake Bar, Hill Country Cupcake, and Sugar Mama's Bakeshop. Proceeds will benefit the Texas Craft Brewers Guild and Keep Austin Dog Friendly (there will be a doggie wading pool on hand, if you plan to bring your own four-legged friend).
Once you've had more cupcakes than you can handle, you'll probably want to launch the leftovers out of the cupcake cannon. That's right, we said cupcake cannon. And since this year's Cupcake Smackdown has an Angry Birds theme, you'll be taking aim at some evil green pigs.
Cupcake eating (and shooting) is thirst-making work, so we're happy to see an impressive number of breweries on the list of sponsors, in addition to host Hops and Grain: (512) Brewing, Austin Beer Works, Independence Brewing, Live Oak Brewing, Ranger Creek Brewing, Real Ale, and Thirsty Planet.
And if all that weren't enough, you'll also be able to play Angry Birds on the big screen and take photos in the Annie Ray photo booth. Bring the family, bring the dog, bring some folding chairs and some cash, and, most importantly, bring your appetite.
