The Fiery Furnaces are sure to dominate the cozy second floor of Lamberts both tonight and Saturday night. Fortunately, Eleanor and Matt Friedberger chose to include Austin amongst a very few stops on this tour that showcases The Fiery Furnaces in what may be their purest form: an acoustic duo. Eleanor will sing as Matt accompanies her on piano; Matt will sing a bit, too, and there are rumors of possible karaoke interludes.

As their 2009 acoustic release, Take Me Round Again, suggests, we can expect Matt and Eleanor to fill Lamberts with beautiful, stripped-down versions of The Fiery Furnaces’ stirring, masterfully crafted songs. Eleanor’s and Matt’s strong, highly expressive voices are clearly capable of blowing the doors off any venue, whether they’re performing acoustically or otherwise. These intimate shows will be far from somnolent, so don’t sleep on this rare opportunity to catch two of indie pop’s more exciting and thought-provoking performers.
