Earlier this week, Texas Legislature's Joint Conference Committee adopted the Senate's proposal to cut funding to the Texas Commission on the Arts. The cuts amount to an approximately 50% reduction to the commission's budget and a 30% reduction in staff.

With the details of the final budget for 2012-2013 still being labored over, the proposal has yet to kick the door in on TCA, but odds are not good.

TCA is committed to advancing Texas' economy by investing in the arts and creative expression. They accomplish this mission through awarding grants to various non-profit arts organizations and individual creatives throughout the state.
