New Jersey rockers Titus Andronicus bring their indie-punk, shoegaze sensibilities to Emo’s tonight. The band features the combined musical powers of Patrick Stickles (vocals, guitar), Amy Klein (guitar, violin), David Robbins (keyboards, guitar) and Eric Harm (drums). Titus Antronicus is a name taken from one of Shakespeare’s early plays, which indicates the band’s obsession with tragic stories and literary influences, which obviously play into Stickles’ epic song crafting.

Their debut album, 2008’s The Airing Of Grievances, had them come out swinging with their knack for insisting vocals, persistent drums and distorted guitar riffs for an all together rough around the edges sound that continues to serve them well. Last year’s The Monitor is a concept album which umbrellas the U.S. Civil War, kind of, with a modern spin incorporating haunting narratives and hints at personal politics. All-in-all they’ve further developed their anthemic classic rock sound fueled by enormous energy, channeling dramatic themes. They’ll surely give you reason to raise your glass and sing along.
