White Denim Drop Mixtape
As Austin’s beloved three-piece indie outfit White Denim prepare to drop their next album, D, in late May, they’ve generously gifted fans with a web-exclusive freebie -- an hour long mixtape. This springtime treat reflects the band’s influences with tracks in the mix by Lee Hazlewood, Hank Williams Jr., Emmylou Harris, Triangle, Ernesto Djedje, and Eddie Callahan (full tracklist on Gorilla vs. Bear). It also follows suit with the seasonal appropriateness of The Last Day Of Summer, a free 12-song EP released in September featuring the overflow of their forthcoming album.
These recent samples (and a couple more available on White Denim’s Soundcloud page) reveal the psych-rock band’s experimental growth that dabbles into more Americana roots and simultaneously offers an intimate showcase of their eclectic inspirations. If you didn’t catch them during SXSW, White Denim’s next local appearance is set for April 15 at Antone’s.
