Texas Hill Country Wine + Food Festival Preview: Down Under With Andrew Dwyer

Though the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival focuses on our state, after the twentieth tasting of wine from a local vineyard, you may start to wonder what else the world has to offer. And when you do, the festival has you covered. Australia Unleashed : Fine Wines and Rogue Cookery at the Whole Foods Market Culinary Center on Saturday, April 2nd is presented by Andrew Dwyer, a chef, cookbook author, and television personality who has garnered attention for his elegant yet unexpected dishes that are all created while trekking through the Outback.

Not only will you learn how to create recipes like Chocolate Almond Figs Poached in Port on a cast-iron while camping in the deserted Outback, (or in our case, the West Texas desert) you’ll also get some tips on recreating the flavors of the Outback in the comfort of your own home. The event will also feature tastings of top-notch Australian wines.

Think of Andrew Dwyer as your private guide on the culinary spring break trip to Australia you never got to take. And if after getting a taste of the Outback during the festival, you decide to go there, make sure you get Dwyer’s card. He will be leading four expeditions over the coming year.
