MTV Woodie Awards Live From Austin Music Hall-11pm Tonight!!

"SXSW starts earlier every year." We've heard this one a million times already, but it's still true and we're already a little partied out (well, some of us).

Well, when you're done schlepping your hungover self around downtown, get ready to fire up your cable TV to the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards on all three MTVs - that's MTV "alpha," MTV2, and dorm-only mtvU. This year the Woodie Awards are being filmed live at Austin Music Hall as a part of SXSW, hosted by "Community" star Donald Glover, and the live broadcast starts at 11pm CST.

Nominees include the usual suspects: Kanye West, The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, The National, Arcade Fire. But the show itself will also feature live performances by über-modern acts including mixtape wunderkind Wiz Khalifa, ghetto-pop metal stylists Sleigh Bells, and the currently-unavoidable L.A. rap crew Odd Future. (See our recent interview with Odd Future's Hodgy Beats here.) Oh, and the Foo Fighters just signed up as well. Not that we're trying to shill for Viacom or anything, but honestly this sounds so, so much better than the Grammys, and when it's over you won't be covered in wristbands (unless you already are) or smell like American Spirits (unless you already do).

We'll be live-blogging the show starting on the red carpet at 9pm, so be sure to check into Austinist on Twitter!

NOTE: You'll undoubtedly still have a chance to see most of these acts at some point in the festival - Odd Future plays the Mess With Texas festival on Saturday and Foo Fighters have been sighted from Paramount Theater to The Highball. Keep checking back!
