When it comes to SXSW, Austinist is here to help you tease out the free parties that are actually worth their salt. One such event holds the moniker of "Killer Tofu" - delicious! Sponsored by tech company HP, media blog I Guess I'm Floating, and the Brooklyn acoustic video phenomena Big Ugly Yellow Couch, this party has got it all. Notably: free entry, no wristband/badge/RSVP needed, centrally located at Lipstick24 (7th & Red River), a rocking lineup, and Flying Dog ales til they're gone!
With both an inside and outside stage to fill, constant entertainment will be provided for the entire Friday night. Inside, Tennis serves as a highlight. With catchy throwback vocals complemented by a fuzzy Best Coast lo-fi sound, you can't help but snap your fingers. Try it out with their song "Marathon" here on Bandcamp. Also playing inside are Kisses, Gobble Gobble, Guards (free EP download!), Delicate Steve, and Secret Mountains.
The outside stage is rocking too, with the electronic Brahms, the other-wordly Aislyn, acoustic guitar glorious High Highs, eclectic Hooray For Earth and dance happy Oh Land all taking a turn. Be sure to get there nice and early to enjoy all that Killer Tofu has to offer! More info on the Facebook page here.
