SXSW Wristbands On Sale Now

According to SXSW HQ, "2000 wristbands will be put on sale at the price of $139 (includes tax), and when those sell out another 2000 will be put on sale for $165 for as long as they last or through Tuesday, February 22nd, whichever comes first. Sales are limited to Austin area residents. Individuals may purchase one wristband for themselves and one for another person whose name must be provided at the time of purchase. Online purchase requires a credit card with a billing zip code in the Austin area."

As in past years, there will also be a last-minute sale of wristbands to both badgeholders and walk-ups in March, but the festival will wait to check registration numbers and will likely announce details on that sale just a few days before the fest.

One final note for those who have never attended SXSW: these wristbands are hugely useful, but don't get you in to everything. The conference panels and lectures are for badgeholders only, and badgeholders also get priority entrance to the 'big' shows at venues like Stubb's and Antone's. All that said, on any given night, a wristband will get you in to 80-90% of the SX venues provided you don't turn up at midnight. They're also useful for venue hopping - you don't have to pay four different covers in a night, you just need to arrive before the venue hits capacity. Good luck!
