Weekly Music Picks - Hearts Pumping, Music Thumping
Monday: The only thing people are going to be talking about on Monday is the Willie Nelson show at the new ACL Live Theater, where the patron saint of all things country/amazing will be performing. Either that, or their googly-eyed Valentine's Day Plans. Not romantic but possibly awesome: Death Angel and D.R.I. at Emo's.
Tuesday: Goofy antics from Nobunny at Emo's, and an intimate Hole in the Wall show from Clyde & Clem's Whiskey Business, which you'll hear more about in the next few days.
Wednesday: Flesh Lights and The Something Ain't Rights go for Emo's after many Beerland victories.
Thursday: Our bet for Thursday involves a triple header of the Diagonals, Pataphysics and Low Red Center at Cheer Up Charlies. Judging by their cute new promo picture, it looks as though Diagonals have drafted three members of the defunct(?) band Peel into their ranks. The Gary are playing The Carousel, and Robyn brings Swedish dance-pop to ACL Live.
Friday: Swans are playing The Mohawk, and we'll be rolling out our interview with principal member Michael Gira soon. At Emo's Tapes 'n' Tapes will perform outdoors while A Giant Dog and others kick it inside. Broken Social Scene plays La Zona Rosa, but you're S.O.L. if you waited to buy tickets - that mother is sold out.
Saturday & Sunday: Catch ST37 at an earlier Saturday show at Trailer Space (7pm) and proceed - Sebadoh plays at Emo's later that evening, and the 5th Annual Misprint Beard and Mustache Contest takes place at The Mohawk. On Sunday, The Salvage Vanguard hosts The Church of the Friendly Ghost. At 6pm 7:30pm, you can see Clots, "a 'living' multi-channel music installation with visual accompaniment, live performance, and hand built metal instruments." At 9pm, they're showing the film After Last Season, which is billed as "vexing and bizarre."
