Beer + Wine News: Barber Shop Brewpub, Max's Winter Wonderland, + Jack Allen's King Estate Dinner

This weekend, Dripping Springs residents will have a new watering hole for craft beers. The Barber Shop Brewpub has announced a soft opening starting on Saturday. The tap selection reflects the recent Central Texas craft brew explosion, with two offerings from Jester King, three from Real Ale (including Coffee Porter), and two from Independence. The bar will also serve American craft brew favorites like Sierra Nevada and Deschutes. If patrons need something to do while drinking, darts and a domino table are also close at hand. There is even a custom bar menu done with neighbor The Goodnight Diner to allow bar-goers to order in from down the street. The Barber Shop Brewpub is located at 207 Mercer Street in Dripping Springs, and hours vary by day. Check their website for additional info.
Max's Wine Dive hosts another of their seasonal tastings this Saturday from 1-4pm at their downtown location near the convention center. The "Winter Wonderland" tasting is $40, and showcases roughly 30-35 wines along with winter small bites from the restaurant's chef. On Tuesday, Southwest Austin's Jack Gilmore and Jack Allen's Kitchen pair up (literally) with Eugene, Oregon's family-owned King Estate winery for a five-course Winter Feast dinner. The menu includes Chile-Spiced Jumbo Shrimp, Seared Scallops w/ Brown Butter, Wild Boar Pork Chops, Chile-Crusted Duck Breast, and a Pear + Walnut Tart. These dishes will pair with King Estate's current lineup of Riesling from Next, Pinot Gris from Acrobat, Cabernet from NXNW, and Pinot Noir.
