They Want You: SXSW Needs Volunteers

If you've ever been interested in the inner workings of the South by Southwest festival, or if you'd like to attend but simply don't have the cash for a badge, the festival has just issued their annual call for volunteers. Volunteers are a backbone of the festival, and the fest will trade you some perks (passes, wristbands, and the like) for working volunteer shifts during the event.

From the SXSW press release: "SXSW Week, March 11 - 20, 2011, is offering a multitude of volunteer opportunities. Jobs range from festival production to conference activities including registration, information, trade show, technical support, and much more. Day and night positions are available during the conference. Volunteers must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours or 3 shifts during the event, depending on their crew type."

The volunteer call takes place on Sunday 1/23 from 3-5pm and again on Wednesday 1/26 from 6-9pm at the Downtown Hilton Austin on 4th Street. For more information on the shifts and opportunities available, call 512-467-7979 or email volunteer@sxsw.com to inquire. They also have a web page here than can assist you.

SXSW 2011 runs from March 11th to March 20th.
