We thought it may not be fair to classify the sport of hockey simply as "violence," and then we saw this. Nevertheless, this ice sport where fighting is only sorta discouraged is the subject of tonight's Encyclopedia Show, the equally hilarious and mind-expanding reading series that makes learnin' fun. Contributing to the program tonight are Mary Jo Pehl (writer for Mystery Science Theater 3000, people), Dionysium president L.B. Deyo, theater gadabout Nat Miller, Teleportal Readings' Jess Sauer, and Detroit person Maegan Stephens. Music, revelry, and the hosting antics of Michael Graupmann and our own Ralphie Hardesty round out the fun times.

And because friendly competition is better for art than most things, we'd be remiss to not mention that the erotic BedPost Confessions series is also having a reading tonight. Hosted by Sadie Smyth (of Sexie Sadie's Stories of Seduction...so NSFW), tonight's reading will feature performances from Sara Gray and Karin Lee, Rosie Q, Raven Hinojosa, Claire Evora, Monique Daviau, Epiphany Heiermann and the musical drrtyness of MC Sex. They'll have giveaways, too. BedPost Confessions takes place from eight to ten tonight at the US Art Authority.
