While 'pataphysics is a century old concept created by Alfred Jarry, a 19th century writer who defined 'pataphysics as "the science of imaginary solutions, which symbolically attributes the properties of objects, described by their virtuality, to their lineaments," it's quite likely you've never heard of it. Closer to home, Pataphysics the band creates electronic music led by Pat Healy, previously of Zom Zoms fame. Pat's dance moves during live shows are the stuff of legends, and the group's sound has garnered kudos across town for bringing quality bleeps and boops back.
Another local band opens, albeit one that's been around much longer. Talmadge D'Amour gained some clout in the '80s with their New Wave synth-rock music video for "Race of Slaves." Reunited this summer, the group continues to gain steam and book more shows in town. Hidden Ritual rounds out the whale of a deal for the show (only $6 advance; $8 at the door) with their sparsely blissed out pop at Emo's on Wednesday evening.
