Bhutto, a documentary exploring the life of Benazir Bhutto, premieres in Austin on Wednesday night, providing a look at one of the world's most polarizing and fascinating political figures.

The first woman to lead Pakistan, over the course of her career Bhutto experienced exile and imprisonment though many Pakistani citizens supported her. She was killed in 2007 as she was campaigning to be reelected as president, highlighting the tension and corruption that underlie the government of a continuously conflict-ridden country.

She championed democracy and expanded rights for women, but her legacy is tinged with controversy. Directed by Duane Baugham and currently earning positive reviews on the film festival circuit, this documentary will shed light on the complicated history of an extraordinary woman.
