Why We Don't Like You: Florida Atlantic Owls

Each week, we'll look at some reasons to taunt, belittle, and bully the Longhorns' football opponent. This week: the Florida Atlantic Owls.

He's Mad As Hell...: With a middling 4-5 record on the field (hey, we feel you), the most attention Florida Atlantic has drawn this year came when announcer Dave Lamont flipped out on the air after Owls quarterback Jeff Van Camp took a nasty hit to the helmet. Lamont's rage builds for 90 seconds, then he tops it off by challenging folks staring at him in the press box to a fight.

Night Owls: Four FAU players were suspended earlier this season after they were promoted as hosts of a postgame party and featured on hundreds of flyers distributed throughout the stadium. Even worse, the party happened after the Owls lost to lowly North Texas.

The Burninator: Florida Atlantic coach Howard Schnellenberger does things his way and doesn't care who likes it. Two years ago, he accused Texas of being a soft team, then lost to the Longhorns, 52-10. Last season, he set fire to the Nebraska logo before losing to the Huskers, 49-3. This year, apparently the third time's the charm, as he helped set the UAB mascot ablaze before the Owls' first game, where they came through with a 32-31 win.
