What a weekend to be a fan of the arts - we have the wonderful East Austin Studio Tour exhibiting in everything from professional studios to living rooms all over the eastside. It's also a great weekend to be a nerd, as the Wizard World Comic Con hits the Austin Convention Center. With all that going on, the music scene has appropriately ramped up to make sure your weekend has a soundtrack.
The E.A.S.T. tour is kicking off in style on Friday at Super!Alright!, where you can catch locals Many Birthdays, My Milky Way Arms, and DJ Richard Henry. And since you'll be on the east side already, head over to Baby Blue, where Butcher Bear is hosting "Exploded Drawing 3" featuring Explosion Horse, Ernest Gonzales, Habits and more. It starts at nine, and five bucks gets you in with a cup for the keg.
Of course, maybe you're feeling a little more sing-a-long-y, in which case you should head down to the Parish to check out Paradise Titty, a female take on the typically testosterone-fueled rock of Guns 'N' Roses. Queen cover group Magnifico will begin the classic rock aping in earnest.
And if you've been out all day at the aforementioned Comic Con, Trophy's is hosting an afterparty featuring Education, Lackluster, The Beat Dolls, and Amanda Lepre. Singer-songwriter Lepre has geek cred: in addition to her solo career, she is the "founder and guitarist of the Descendants of Erdrick, an instrumental project dedicated to performing classic video game music."

So let's see what Saturday has in store. Well, by far the headiest event is "South By South Wes" at Beerland - an all day release party (beginning at 1pm) in honor of Wes Coleman's new solo release. Coleman will be there, of course, joined by bands including John Schooley's One Man Band, Wild America, A Giant Dog, Air Traffic Controllers, Followed By Static, Beautiful Supermachines, and more.
"Guadalupe Get Down" begins around lunchtime at Spiderhouse and the USAA on Saturday and won't let up until later, featuring Doom Trooper, Bridge Farmers, and more. If you're in the mood to dance, the ND is hosting "HUMP! A Classic Funk, Disco and Boogie Jam" with tons of DJs and MC Tigre Liu. For some loud, more laid-back rocking, we'd suggest hitting the Hole in the Wall to catch the powerful Gary.
Sunday itself will be a time to reflect and all that, but if you're cruising for a bruising you can always watch The Dandy Warhols rehash their hashy hits at La Zona Rosa.
