FFF Fest Artist Profile: Woven Bones
An Austin band by way of Florida, Woven Bones blend a mix of scuzz-ridden garage rock with shoegaze insight, resulting in a sound that’s super fuzzy and full of reverb. Woven Bones strive to deliver driving, loud, harsh beats that are confident and direct. We all know there’s no shortage of dime-a-dozen lo-fi acts in town, but Woven Bones manage to differentiate and shine through the mess.
The band started a buzz in Austin a few years back largely due to lead singer and guitarist Andy Burr's tenacity and impressive songwriting. To date, they have an flourishing discography and have kept the buzz going with their debut full-length, In and Out and Back Again. Influences include The Velvet Underground, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Gun Club, Link Wray and probably some Iggy Pop and Nirvana mixed in. The band manages to produce something separate from their influences, setting them apart from all the similar sludgy stuff in the market right now.
Rock with that kind of primitive quality is always better live, so we can’t wait to see what they dish out for FFF Fest. Catch them on the orange stage at 12:50pm on Sunday.
