Weekend Music Preview: ATX Converge, Arthouse, & More
- Sunset, The White White Lights, Dana Falconberry, and Machine -- all featured in Nathan Christ’s documentary Echotone -- will perform at the latest installment of ATX Converge this Saturday at The Mohawk. The night also serves as the release party for the film; RSVP here.
- A couple of talented local bands celebrate the release of their respective records this Friday. Head over to The Mohawk to enjoy The Paper Shapes’ scintillating punk-pop or stop in at Emo’s (Inside) for One Hundred Flowers’ delightfully euphonic melodies. The outside stage at Emo’s hosts cult favorites Built To Spill on the same evening.
- The recently renovated Arthouse at the Jones Center reopens in style this weekend. On Friday, a dinner on the roof deck of the facility will be followed by an afterparty where New York collective MEN is sure to impress. A member preview party on Saturday and a day-long public event on Sunday offer further opportunities to explore this beautiful new space and its exhibits. Join Arthouse today!
- Stubb’s is home to a couple of stellar shows on Saturday night. Outside, flashback to the 90s with Texas’ own modern-rock mainstays Toadies (promising locals The Bright Light Social Hour and Devil in the Drink support); stick around inside afterwards for the legendary Ian McLagan (& the Bump Band).
- The rescheduled Stone Temple Pilots and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club show (Friday, The Backyard), Los Campesinos! (Saturday, La Zona Rosa), and the mouthwatering bill that is The Thermals, Cymbals Eat Guitars, and The Coathangers (Saturday, Red 7) round off our recommendations for the weekend.
